Alexandra Jadovich

Alex was on horseback almost from the time she could walk. She founded Poplar Hill Stables in 2016 with the aim to create a show barn that also focused on horsemanship. Today, PHS has grown into a premier equestrian program with a show schedule that spans Upperville, Tryon, WEF and more. Alex’s approach is centered on the horse always coming first. She prioritizes clear communication and trust between the horse and the rider. Alex focuses on small victories in training - and enjoying the process. This is particularly true with her younger horses, and she has a strong track record of importing and training young ponies and horses that go on to be competitive on the A-circuit. Alex is continually seeking to level up in her riding and teaching, and currently trains with Olympic great Joe Fargis and Grand Prix dressage trainer Louisa-Marcelle Eadie. She has also trained with Mary and Frank Chapot, Sue Cooper, and Sonya Crampton. Prior to founding PHS, Alex worked for the Chapots, Potomac Horse Center, and as a freelance trainer. Alex graduated from Lynchburg College, where she competed with the equestrian team. Originally from Simsbury, CT,  When she isn’t teaching or competing, Alex loves to travel - especially if there’s a beach involved.

Rachel Jones

Rachel has been with Poplar Hill Stables since 2019. Her training philosophy is rooted in the belief that perfect is the enemy of good - especially when it comes to young horses and her adult amateur clients! She particularly enjoys developing young riders and seeing them have success at challenging venues like Upperville and WEF. She works to build a successful training program that takes into account the best interest of the horse, strives to achieve the goals of the owners - and is always in pursuit of knowledge to stay progressive in her approach. To that end, Rachel trains with notable riders including two-time Olympic gold medalist Joe Fargis, and Grand Prix dressage trainer Louisa-Marcelle Eadie. Prior to PHS, she worked for Sonya Crampton at North Slope Stables, where she gained tremendous experience on the show circuit, and in training hunter jumpers. She began her professional career in horses as an assistant trainer for William & Mary University’s equestrian team, and later Potomac Horse Center. Rachel graduated from Lynchburg College, where she rode on the equestrian team. She grew up in Toano, VA, and currently resides on the PHS property in Poolesville, MD. In addition to her horse Shorty, an OTTB Thoroughbred, Rachel has her dogs Leia and Maple, and Biscuit the cat. When she isn’t at the barn, you can find her traveling or hiking.

Monomoy-

Monomoy is a 16.2 five year old Dutch Warmblood gelding located in Poolesville Maryland. He is by Comfortuna VDL out of the Indoctro mare Je-Dine. He is currently doing the baby greens on the circuit, and is schooling 3’ at home. Monomoy’s personality is easygoing, sweet, and in your pocket despite his young age. Making him an exceptional horse for a young or amateur rider in a program. But he would still make a lovely professionals horse all the same. He has always jumped a ten, has a super lead change, huge stride and is very brave as seen in the videos below! All the while takes very little prep to get into the ring. He will make an excellent 3’3” or 3’6” Hunter/Derby prospect for the junior/amateur or professional rider. Please DM me for more information or to schedule a date to come out and try this exceptional young hunter!
